Paul C. Barranco has spent most of his life chasing what’s just beyond the frame.
Growing up in San Diego with a professional photographer for a father, Paul developed an early appreciation for photography, visual storytelling, and the value of earning his own way. Surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, and the outdoors taught him something else early on: the best experiences, and often the best images, rarely come without putting in the work.
That curiosity eventually took him from San Diego State University’s Film and Television program to Los Angeles and ultimately around the world. Over a career spanning more than 25 years, Paul has photographed and filmed people, places, and stories throughout the United States and in locations including Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, Micronesia, Bali, and China.
His work has taken him from major commercial productions to remote locations, creating imagery for clients including Toyota, Subaru, Peloton, Disney, Hulu, Uber Eats, Uniqlo, iRobot, and Quiksilver, while his filmmaking has received international festival recognition.
More than 25 years later, that hasn’t changed. Paul still approaches every shoot with the same curiosity, attention to detail, and refusal to settle that have defined his career.
There’s always something just beyond the frame. Paul’s never been afraid to work for it.
